Ukulele in Schools.

Background  - 2002  Kevin Fogarty [ ex Knobz] , Mike Chunn [ex Split Enz ] and Bill Sevesi [ Lap Steel Legend] started Ukulele in Schools in Auckland , N.Z.

 

Highlights     -    

· Kevin flew to Wellington and ran an ukulele workshop with the members of Parliament.

· His school uke group the Kiwileles appeared on Tangata Pasifika , What Now and National Anthem for nationwide television.

· KIWILELE’S [pupil ukulele group] open the Telstra Manukau Stadium.

· Travelled to the Hawaiian Uke Festival twice and played with Jack Johnson 2007.

· Organised and chaired the first New Zealand Uke festival committee.

· Wrote and recorded the festival theme song “ KIWI UKULELE”

· Ukulele workshop for A.P.R.A. staff.

· Three teacher ukulele workshops for  40 teachers with groups enrolled in the festival.

· Two massed ukulele practises for 800 pupils playing at the festival.

·  Ukulele performance on Campbell live with Sione Aleki Tonga]  and James Hill [Canada ] – Five Foot Two.

·  Co-hosts , stage manages and plays at the inaugural N.Z Ukulele. festival.

·  Ukulele Workshop for business C.E.O.s. Auckland.

· Waiheke Island market Ukulele workshops.

· N.Z. Music month 2008 Concert for 3 schools Pt Chevalier Library

· 2008 – 8 teacher Ukulele workshops in Auckland \ Festival committee N.Z. Mt Smart Ukulele festival 22-11-08
